Just a few pictures of students and staff participating in the Kindness Week spirit days. All week we are working on the skill of kindness and compassion.

Intermediate had a wonderful guest speaker today. Claire Grace presented to students a program about kindness and compassion called See.Stop. Start. You can find out more about See.Stop.Start below... We were thankful to have her speak and help us during Kindness Week.
SEE.
SEE people as people first rather than just seeing one trait (ability, race, religion, gender, political affiliation, sexual preference, etc). SEE what you have in common with others rather than what is different.
STOP.
STOP negative thoughts, words, and actions. Different isn't bad, it's just different. STOP using labels in a derogatory way to belittle others for their differences.
START.
START having positive or at least neutral interaction with those who have perceived differences. A simple smile or holding a door for someone can make an impact. Being neutral is as easy as not posting a negative comment.

Congratulations Mrs. Peterman, Support Employee of the Month. We appreciate all you do for staff and students.

Please see the attached events for a community partner.

Fifth Grade has started studying the Principles of Design in Mr. Phipps’s Art Class. Their most recent lesson focused on Balance. During their lesson they learned about symmetrical, asymmetrical and radial balance. They then used their knowledge of symmetry to create paper cubes. Once all of the cubes were created, they were attached to create their collaborative art installation.
Great job Mr. Phipps and 5th grade art students.
