Athletic Activities Guidelines

On June 09, 2020 McLoud Public School Coaches/ Directors will begin face-to face contact with high school level students using the provisions provided below. All individual programs must follow the normal OSSAA rules and procedures, McLoud Public School policies and as well as the following McLoud Public Schools Guidelines.The health and safety of all students and staff at McLoud Public Schools is a priority.  All of the following precautionary measures will occur before each activity.  In addition there will be daily documentation for each student that will be recorded on a record log.  

  • Athletes or coaches who are coming to the facility for any reason during this time period will have their temperature taken. If their temperature is 100.4 or above they will be required to return home and encouraged to speak with their primary care doctor.

  • Social Distancing will be followed at all times.  No more than 20 athletes per 1 coach present at any time.

  • Students will be asked a series of questions that will be reflective of

showing any symptoms of Covid-19 (i.e. sore throat, problems breathing,

coughing, any exposure to Covid-19, etc.)

             ●   Sanitizing procedures will take place before and after each workout.

  • Facilities will be sanitized daily during this time period and all participants are encouraged to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer at least once every 60 minutes.

  • Students will be expected to provide their own face covering and it will be worn when they are inside athletic facilities. Students will not be required to wear face covering when participating outside.  (Face coverings will consist of masks, bandanas, cloth coverings etc. Anything that can be worn over the mouth and nose).

  • McLoud Staff will wear a face covering when inside, but do not have to wear a covering when outside. 

  • When students are in the weight room they will be expected to disinfect their weight station before leaving the area.  

  • Hand sanitizer will be available to participants at all times.

  • Spray sanitizers and paper towels will be available at all times. 

  • Athletes will need to bring their own water bottle and are asked to not share with anyone under any circumstance.

  • No locker rooms will be open or available to student athletes.

  • Athletes will not share helmets or other protective equipment.  

  • Balls and bats will be disinfected every 30 minutes and after each session. 

  • Bathrooms will be available to students and will be disinfected every 30 minutes.

  • Only McLoud student athletes will be allowed in/on McLoud School facilities until further notice.  

  • No spectators will be allowed to gather in indoor or outdoor facilities until further notice.  

 

SPECIFIC FACILITY PROTOCOLS

WEIGHT ROOM

  • 2 people maximum on any one piece of equipment.

  • All athletes must wear a mask or cloth face covering.

  • Social distancing requirements must be followed; the total number allowed in a weight room must comply with social distancing requirements 

  • All weight equipment must be properly disinfected after each use.

GYM / INDOOR FACILITIE

  • Any equipment used to include weights, balls, helmets, bats, etc. must be disinfected appropriately with use.

  • No one on one or multiple athlete scrimmages allowed.

  • Social distancing requirements must be followed; the total number allowed in a facility must comply with social distancing requirements.

OUTDOOR FACILITIES 

  • No shared helmets or equipment worn on the head including facemask.

  • Social distancing requirements must be followed; the total number allowed in a facility must comply with social distancing requirements.

NOTES

  1.  Athletes will only be allowed into an athletic facility by a coach.  The coach will take the temperature and screen the athlete for COVID-19 and document before allowing the athlete in.   

  1. Summer Pride (Large Group Activity) athletes will be screened starting 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the session.  Athletes will be screened at the East Pass gate of the football field.  The screening will consist of temperature taken, COVID-19 questions asked, hands sanitized and documentation of the screening.  The gates will be locked at the beginning of the workout session to control access to the facilities.  

  1. Coaches are being instructed that athletes who do not attend because they or their parents are not comfortable with the health risks will not receive any consequences or be held responsible in the future for non-participation.

PHASE 1

June 8th through July 14

  1. Large group activity (Summer Pride, grades 9-12)

  • To be conducted at the football field and weight room

  • Weight room will be restricted to only 24 athletes with 2 athletes per weight rack.  

  • Daily workout will consist of three different stations (weight room, cardio and agility)

ALL OF THE SAFETY PROTOCOLS WILL BE FOLLOWED

  1.  Small Group Activity - coaches meeting with athletes in groups no larger than 20.  Open gyms, indoor facilities and team meetings. No individualized coaching is allowed per OSSAA regulations.

  • HS athletes are able to participate in “small group” type settings for sports in our school facilities with coaches present.

  • This small group work would be no more than 20 athletes together at any time and social distancing measures will be in place (six feet apart, hand washing, etc.)

PHASE 2

June 15

  1. Individualized camps can now be held and must follow OSSAA rules.  These will be scheduled to not conflict with the daily large group schedule. 

  2. Large group activity and small group activities can continue

ALL OF THE SAFETY PROTOCOLS WILL BE FOLLOWED

June 27th through July 5th

OSSAA Dead period - no school activities or facilities used during this time.

PHASE 3

July 6th through July 14th 

  1. Interdistrict competitions or camps are allowed. 

  2. Large group activity, small group and individualized camp activities can continue

ALL OF THE SAFETY PROTOCOLS WILL BE FOLLOWED

PHASE 4

July 15 

No restrictions, assuming the state has progressed out of the re-opening phases

back to “normal” operation.

  • Fastpitch and Cross Country can start practicing under no limitations other than OSSAA rules.  

  • All other sports must follow OSSAA rules
