Parents/Guardians, if you are having trouble enrolling your student(s) it may be because you are using the student account. You must have a guardian account to complete enrollment. Please email the building contact person and they can get one set up for you. Please be patient, as this is a new system and we are doing our very best to make this process as painless as possible. It may take a few days for our staff to get back with everyone. This delay will in no way impact your student. Thank you. June 16, 2020 Dear McLoud Family, It is hard to believe that another school year has come to an end. A strange end indeed, but an end all the same. We experienced many new adventures this spring. I am certain we will be strengthened by this journey and that it will help us to appreciate the little things. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students, staff, and community for their support for the last three years. It truly has been a pleasure to serve as the high school principal. I built lasting relationships with many wonderful people. Furthermore, I got to learn and grow along with each of you. For these and a million other reasons, I am truly grateful. I have accepted a new position in the district and am currently making that transition. I will be the Executive Director of Administrators/Curriculum and Instruction. I am excited at the new challenge and hope to continue to serve the McLoud district to the very best of my abilities. In closing, I wish you all a very happy, safe, and enjoyable summer. Go Redskins! Sincerely, Rhonda Hockenbury

Attention Athletes: The board will hear the plan on bringing athletes back for workouts and other activities on Monday, June 8th. If approved, we will begin workouts the next morning, June 9th. There would be two sessions that athletes could attend. The first at 8:00-9:30 a.m. The second session would take place from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Athletes can choose which to attend. This post is a heads up to parents and athletes so that you have an advanced notice of the possible start time and date. We will let you know whether the plan was approved or not as soon as we find out the night of the 8th. If approved, have your athletes ready to roll the next morning. This is for all sports. All head coaches will be in attendance for workouts.

It was wonderful to see all of the smiling faces today. ❤️ If you didn’t get a chance to come by today that’s okay. Email Mrs. Murdock if you would like to come by and pick it up, and she will have them ready. Those not picked up by Friday will be mailed.

Just a friendly reminder of our Drive Thru awards tomorrow from 5:30-7:00. All grade levels will come through the Intermediate drive ( the bus loading lane). All you need to do is drive up, give your child’s name and homeroom, and our teachers will get their awards and bring them to your car! We know it’s not the ceremony our students deserve, but due to the ongoing situation is what we are able to do. We can’t wait to cheer them on tomorrow! See you then!

We are sad about many things missed due to the pandemic. One of those things was our trip we had planned for the entire student body to the OKC Bombing Memorial for the 25th anniversary. With one of our JH motto words of the year, resilience, our ELA team with the leadership of Michelle Lanham, reserved and instructed from the HOPE trunks provided by the Museum. They tied in their literature units this year around this theme and even read a group book, Eleven, that was written about a boy’s eleventh bday and the survival of September 11th events. They planned to even chat online with the author, and thank him for the set of books he sent to McLoud JH. We were all looking forward to visiting the museum and experiencing it together (I have never been able to go myself, and wanted to emotionally prepare to do it with our students). Our students are pictured here observing objects that travel in the HOPE trunk that were preserved from the fence and the artifacts. Our Students wrote as those objects and what it must have been like to see what they saw among other activities. On this 25th anniversary of this tragic event.... WE REMEMBER. #weremember

❤️📖In an effort to help Awaken our New Intermediate Library Intermediate classes will be having a Book Wars contest during the month of March. 4th-6th Students are challenged to donate new or gently used school appropriate books to help fill our new library. The classroom that donates the most books will earn a pop and popcorn party. The winning class will also get to put a pie in the face of our Librarian and Dean of Students. If we are able to collect 250 books our Principal, Mrs. Drew, will get a pie in the face, and if we are able to collect 500 books our Superintendent, Mr. Stanley, will take a pie in the face too. Each book donated will have a special label placed in them to recognize the families that have helped with our Book Wars. Mrs. Rich has an Amazon wish list for books, and the link has been shared to the Intermediate Facebook page if you are looking for ideas on what we will need. We are excited about the opening of our new building next year, and hope to pack the library full of amazing adventures for our students!📖❤️ Let the Book Wars Begin!!

2019-2020 McLoud Little League Wrestling For the 2019-2020 school year we will be bringing little league wrestling back to McLoud for both boys and girls, Kindergarten - 8th Grade. Wrestling is a sport that teaches individuals how to have discipline, self control, self motivation, heart, dedication, humility, work ethic, desire, and mental toughness. Wrestling is also a great “offseason” sport that prepares individuals for other sports due to the amount of coordination and body control it takes to be good at wrestling. Here’s some proof: “I’m a huge wrestling fan. Wrestlers have so many great qualities that athletes need to have.” – Bob Stoops – Oklahoma Sooners Head Football Coach Ohio State’s Jim Tressel is another example. “He has stated on more than one occasion to local high school recruits and coaches that he would rather recruit a football player who has a wrestling background than one who doesn’t.” “I would have all my offensive linemen wrestle if I could.” -John Madden Hall of Fame NFL Coach Summer Open Gym: We will be offering free open gym all summer on Sunday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 7:30 pm starting June 9th at the McLoud HS wrestling room. We would like to offer these open gyms as an opportunity for kids to try the sport of wrestling at no cost or risk before dedicating to the season in the fall. Youth wrestling season will begin the last week of October and more info will be available the closer we get to the start of season. Wrestling Meeting: We will have a meeting on the first day of summer open gym, June 9th at 6:30pm at the High School Wrestling room, so that we can all meet and talk about the direction we would like to see the wrestling program go, as well as give us all an opportunity to meet and see what wrestling is all about. Final Thought: I would like to thank everyone for the opportunity to be able to coach your student athletes and I look forward to meeting y’all. We’re going to do big things here in McLoud. GO REDSKINS!!! William Winters - McLoud High School Wrestling Coach Contact Info: Email- wwinters@mcloudschools.us Phone: (405)822-7071
